Davido Visit Tinubu As Rumor of Gov. Adeleke’s Detection to APC Escalate More From Peoples Gazette Afrobeats star David ‘Davido’ Adeleke has paid a surprising visit to President Bola Tinubu amid growing speculation about the possible defection of his uncle and Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).Viral videos and photos on social media showed the Grammy-nominated singer alongside some of his associates, including Ubi Franklin, socialite Pascal Chibuike Okechukwu, popularly known as Cubana Chief Priest, and others arriving at the Presidential Villa, where Mr Tinubu welcomed them. The purpose of Davido’s visit to Mr Tinubu was not disclosed. However, the timing of the visit comes as reports of Mr Adeleke making desperate moves to ditch the PDP for the APC continue to gain traction in the public following recent high-profile defections to the ruling party ahead of the 2027 elections.Recently, Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, his predecessor and Atiku Abubakar’s running mate in the 2023 presidential election, Ifeanyi Okowa, jumped the train of the PDP for that of the APC.Last week, Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom also confirmed he would be defecting to the APC in a very short time, directing his commissioners and other political appointees to join him in the move or resign from their positions.Meanwhile, Davido’s decision has generated mixed reactions among netizens, with many condemning his choice to visit Mr Tinubu despite saying in a recent interview in the United States that African-Americans should not attempt to visit Nigeria, citing the president’s “bad” economic policies.“Leave America and go where?” the singer queried. “It is not cool back home. The economy now is in shambles, the exchange rate is messed up, and the price of petroleum is too high.”
