Peacemaker Azuegbulam, a 27-year-old Nigerian soldier, lost his left leg in October 2020 while fighting Boko Haram jihadists in the northeast region of Nigeria. His unit came under fire from an anti-aircraft gun, and he was wounded, requiring doctors to amputate his leg. He started participating in powerlifting, sitting volleyball, and other sports, which eventually led him to the Invictus Games.
