Troops Neutralise Terrorists, Arrest Kidnap Suspect in Plateau Clearance Operations Security forces have recorded significant progress in ongoing efforts to restore peace in Plateau State, as troops intensify clearance operations against criminal elements.
Troops of Operation Enduring Peace, operating under the broader mandate of Operation Wutan Daji, successfully carried out multiple operations across the state, leading to the neutralisation of terrorists and the arrest of a suspected kidnapper.

Fierce Gun Battle in Wase LGA
On April 4, 2026, troops engaged suspected terrorists in a fierce gun battle in Wase Local Government Area. The confrontation occurred along the Babangida–Adua axis within the Dutsen Zaki forest, a known hideout for criminal elements.
During the encounter, two terrorists were neutralised, while several others escaped with gunshot wounds.
A follow-up search of the area led to the recovery of dangerous weapons and ammunition, including a locally fabricated firearm, a belt containing 105 rounds of 7.62mm PKT ammunition, 30 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, and a cutlass.
Intelligence-Led Operation in Qua’an Pan
In a separate operation on April 5, troops acting on credible intelligence intercepted four suspected terrorists in Qua’an Pan Local Government Area, specifically in the Namu District.
Security forces recovered an additional 100 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition during the operation.

However, while attempting to dismantle the suspects’ hideout, troops came under heavy attack from armed accomplices.
In the ensuing chaos, three of the arrested suspects were killed by their fleeing associates, while one suspect was successfully secured and remains in custody.
Arrest of Kidnap Suspect in Shendam
In another development, troops operating in Shendam Local Government Area, in collaboration with local residents, arrested a suspected kidnapper in Gidan Mangoro village.

The suspect is believed to be connected to a recent abduction incident in the area and is currently undergoing further investigation.
Army Reaffirms Commitment to Peace
The Nigerian Army has reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining operations aimed at dismantling criminal networks and restoring lasting peace across Plateau State.
Residents have also been urged to remain vigilant and continue providing timely and credible information to security agencies, as community cooperation remains vital in the fight against insecurity.
